December 03 Devastating floodThis intersection is just a half-mile (or less) from where we live, and is a major crossroads into and out of Woodinville. The flooded area extends a couple blocks in every direction, wherever the low spots are. Businesses like McLendon's Hardware, Jack-in-the-Box, and my favorite little wine store, VinElla, no doubt had 2-3' of water in them. At the far end of this photo (down the street it's facing) are a few apartment complexes. Woodinville firefighters had to rescue family and pets who were trapped in the rising water from Sammamish river. What a horrible thing to have happen at this time of year; flooding is much worse than the weeklong power-outages from last year's Hannukah Eve Windstorm. Makes me all the more determined to continue my support of the local Red Cross. Quote what's after the trestle, still looking south |
